As the largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia has long been on the map as one of the biggest potential consumers for sharia-compliant Islamic services. Due to Indonesia’s fast growing economy and middle class population, the banking industry will need to diversify into new product lines making Islamic banking more accessible. During 2008, Indonesian law makers passed 2 new Acts on Islamic finance. First,the Islamic banking Act no.21 of 2008 and second, the Government sovereign sukuk Act Currently there are five sharia banks operating in the country, 28 Islamic Banking Unit (IBU) of conventional banks and 128 Islamic Rural Banks. Sharia banking accounted for 2.11% of the banking system as of June 2008. Certified Islamic Banking Professional (CIBP) is prestigious world class intensive program offered by The Islamic Banking & Finance Institute, Trisakti University to prepare human talents of Islamic banker and produce high caliber professionals with the necessary technical skills and knowledge in Islamic Finance, specifically in the areas of Islamic banking. |
